This installation challenges the boundaries of performance art by exploring whether the presence of the artist can be supplanted by the active participation of spectators. Through this inquiry, it invites reflection on the centrality and exhibition of the artist's body, while reexamining the role of visitors in shaping contemporary art experiences.

The installation draws inspiration from the iconic metal napkin dispensers found in traditional Spanish bars. These small white tissue paper napkins are widely recognized for their near-waterproof texture and their ironic inefficiency, as well as for their distinctive blue-printed message: "Thank you for your visit."
Building on this, the installation features five dispensers styled after these classic designs, offering napkin imitations that bear the phrase "Thank you for your performance" in the same typographic font. These dispensers will be casually arranged on a metal counter and at the gallery's bar, seamlessly blending into the space as if they were part of a catering service provided by the institution. Beside the dispensers, bowls filled with olives will be placed, inviting visitors to partake. As they enjoy the olives and inevitably need to use the napkins to clean their hands or dispose of the pits, the blue-printed phrase will subtly remind them that their simple action has transformed them into active participants in the performance.
The proposal was specifically created within the framework of the exhibition Beyond the Spectacle curated by Natasha Jozi which took place at PLATFORM München in June 2023.
